Back at the track!

It was good to see so many members at the running session now we're back at the track. It was especially good to see you all put in so much effort for your first timed mile of the year.

New records have been set:

5.41 for the boys by Ben Scott
5.43 for the girls by Melissa McIntosh

You know what to beat now!

AGM Report

Our Annual General Meeting is over for another year with a number of issues resolved and new committee members voted in. A full set of minutes will be available soon, but the main points are:

- a change of the official club name from 'Carlisle Tri Juniors' to 'Carlisle Junior Tri Club'. This is to remove confusion with Carlisle Tri Club
- ammending the constitution to allow for Second Club status for members who wish to officially compete for other clubs or regions but still remain members
- altering the payment system to a flat £15 a month fee which pays for all sessions. Restriction on swim spaces limits to club to 60 members and there is no lower fee for members not taking part in some sessions
- election of new committee members. A full list of all members will follow

Riding with an Olympian!

It's not all work, work, work and train, train, train at our sessions. Lucky members who took part in the cycle session this weekend at Watchtree had the chance to meet and ride out with a genuine Olympic gold medal winner - Phillip Hindes MBE.

Despite all having their top-quality road bikes, some members decided to opt for something a little unconventional in which to ride in!

Not one to miss a chance for publicity, Watchtree's own Ryan took the opportunity to raise awareness of the site's chance to win £50k in funding to improve the quality of the tracks. See the ITV coverage here.

Check out Watchtree's Facebook page for more on this unusual morning.

Jameo is running 'The Wall'!

One of our coaches, David Jamieson is running 'The Wall'; 69 miles in one day! He's doing this to raise funds to help a friend of his son, who lost a foot in a car accident.

If you want to contribute, or read more about The Wall and why David is doing this, click this link for his GoFundMe page.

Upcoming AGM

The Club Annual General Meeting is due to take place at William Howard School, Lecture Theatre on Friday, 24th March 2017 at 6.30pm after the run session finishes.  Entry to the Lecture Theatre can be via the Main Entrance if you haven't been to the run.

Please remember nominations are required for the committee positions - Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Web Administrator, Welfare Officer, Kit Person and general committee members.

Every year ALL the current committee stand down and some of them do not wish to stand again.  So we really do need some volunteers to step up to the challenge.

If you are interested in a position please let Kath know by Friday 17th March either by email or phone.
